I keep a litre bottle in the fridge, not a can!  It’s cheaper per litre and I can use less than a can at a go without the rest going flat.  Flat tonic water is truly horrid even with plenty of gin and half a lemon! — Five Cats

Getting into preferences, I totally agree with your assesment of the diet version tasting awful.  I can taste them for several hours afterwards and have actually gotten physically ill because of the taste (I suppose.)  I like mine straight up over ice with the juice of about a quarter to a half of a fresh lime.  It’s a wonderful summer cooler and has the added benefit of seeming to repel mosquitoes although that’s not true for everyone.  I keep a can in the ‘fridge all the time because I have occasional long muscle (Legs, arms, fingers, etc.) cramping as a side-effect of medication and it kills the cramps about 5 to 10 minutes after drinking about a half can or so.  I’ve passed this tidbit along to several people and all of them, with perhaps one or two exceptions, report the same miraculous recovery including some people taking quinine sulfate pills and not finding relief with them.  As another side benefit, it seems to help keep my asthma from being quite so severe.  I don’t, however, recommend a daily regimine of a can a day because it gives me and most people diarrhea.  That, along with tinitus (High-pitched ringing in the ears) are the only shortcomings I’ve noticed.                              Wayne

I prefer it with the gin and a slice of lemon, and I can’t stand the diet versions which contain saccharin.  I like the original versions where sugar has been used as the sweetener.  For variation using 1/2 citrus fruit juice (orange or grapefruit juice) instead of all tonic is great – my favourite is with juice from blood oranges.  It looks great as well! >                     Wayne

Yeah, I had that too several years ago.  An old man suggested I drink 3 or 4 cans of tonic water (Quinine water like they use to make gin and tonic) a week.  Apparently it worked and the night cramps went away too along with the day cramps so I guess that’s all the cramps went away.  I don’t know if you’re having cramping long muscles too or not but it seems to be a common complaint.  I but the cheap stuff now when I need it…As in the store brand if you can find it.                      Wayne
