If National Jewish is Number 1 then what is Number 2?

Yes.  At NJH they used serums that were native to the city in which I live in Michigan.  I thought it was kind of neat that the grass and trees, etc. came from my home town.  I thought they did a great job in all areas of testing and diagnosing. Lisa

Hi All, As I mentioned my 4 year old’s asthma has been quite out of control and has become worse after the pneumonia he had in March. As a result we finally decided to go to the number 1 facility in the U.S.A for asthma ( National Jewish). Unfortunately they don’t know when they’d be able to fit us in for an assessment. Do you know what the number #2 facility for asthma is? Or if you were me would you just stick with #1? Any advice/opinions would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Vicky

Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN is #2 for respiratory disorders. They have an excellent reputation in many fields. See: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/nycu/health/hosptl/specpulm.htm Best Hospitals: RESPIRATORY DISORDERS http://www.mayo.edu/mcr/Spec_MCR.html Mayo Clinic Rochester Ellis

One thing I was always curious about: If you live in a totally different area, and you travel to either National Jewish or Mayo, how familiar are they with the environmental conditions in the area you come from?  For example, if National Jewish does allergy testing on you, do they use extracts obtained from the pollen and mold in the area in which you live? — Steven D.
