The medical term is epistaxis. See: http://www.vh.org/Providers/ClinRef/FPHandbook/Chapter19/03-19.html   Otolaryngology: Nose "III.Epistaxis A.Causes. Nose picking, external trauma, dry nasal mucosa with vascular fragility, foreign bodies, blood dyscrasias, neoplasms, infections, vitamin deficiencies, toxic metal exposures, septal deformities, telangiectasias, angiofibromas, and aneurysm ruptures. E.If the bleeding has been prolonged, check the patient’s Hb and  HCT. A PT/INR, PTT, and platelet count may also be indicated depending on the clinical situation. " Checking side effects of Claritin: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/lorat_ad.htm loratadine "Respiratory System: Bronchitis, bronchospasm, coughing, dyspnea,  epistaxis, hemoptysis, laryngitis, nasal dryness, pharyngitis,  sinusitis, sneezing." So epistaxis [nose bleed] could be a side effect of the Claritin. Consult with your doctor. Ellis

Probably best to see a doctor.  We can tell you what we _think_ is going on but we would still be guessing. "…there is always a well-known solution to every human problem–neat, plausible, and wrong."    H. L. Mencken

3 or 4 times a day is frequent?  I’d be happy to have it be as little as 3 or 4 times an hour, at least during some times of my life. -S- – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Also could be nose polyps.  Just wondering why she blows her nose so frequently > and/or maybe too violently? > J > I get nosebleeds when my sinuses get over dry. I get nosebleeds when my sinuses get over dry. A humidifier and cutting down on the decongestants helped me. Sometimes I will do the steam breathing thing. I also notice mine only occurs in the winter with very dry heated air. I would, however, go to see a doctor to be sure it isn’t something else. Nose bleeds can indicate many things.
