Help! – kid can't stop sneezing- serious

Question:

I’ve got a friend whose child has asthma and just can’t stop sneezing. It’s very serious. She was sneezing every 40 seconds and is now sneezing every 10 seconds or so. They are admitting her, but this has been going on for 4 full days and nights. She can’t eat for fear of aspiration and can’t sleep either. Help! Any clues?!!!! ~Vinny

Some possibilities that come immediately to mind: – Particularly bad common cold – Acute sinus infection – Allergic rhinitis (what medications is she taking?) – Non-allergic rhinitis – Gastroesophageal reflux of stomach contents up into nasopharynx – Trauma or physical damage to inside of nasopharynx – Foreign body inside nasopharynx — Steven D.
